FAQs

The Kids Academy is designed for ages 10–15, with smaller groups from age 6 on request. Our One-Day Workshops are suitable for ages 6+. If you’re unsure, we’ll guide you based on your child’s confidence and focus.

No. Both options are beginner-friendly. We teach safe tool handling from the start and structure tasks so children can succeed step by step.

In workshops, children complete a take-home project in one or two sessions, depending on the complexity of the build. In the Academy, projects are designed to build skills over time—often with more advanced techniques and multi-step builds as confidence grows.

Safety is central to every session. We work in small groups, maintain close supervision, and use age-appropriate tools and processes. Children are guided through each step before they proceed.

If your child is 10–15 and would benefit from a structured pathway, choose the Academy. If your child is 6+ or you want to try woodworking first, start with a One-Day Workshop.

A one-day woodworking workshop at The Makers Society. Children from 6 build a real wooden toy, like a car or a turtle on wheels, using real hand tools with a tutor beside them, and finish it in a single session.

Yes. The Kids Academy is for ages 10 to 15 and meets weekly for 1 hour 45 minutes across a 10-week term. The fee is AED 3,000 for the term, plus AED 279 for each student’s own saw and hand plane. For children under 10, we can organise an Academy group on request, for five or more children.

One-day workshops are for children from 6. The Kids Academy is for ages 10 to 15, and for five or more children under 10 we can organise a group on request.

Real skill. Children use real saws, planes and chisels sized for them, in a working woodworking workshop, not a soft play or a craft table.

Kids workshops start from AED 250. The Academy is AED 3,000 per term.

The current term runs from 25 September to 27 November 2026. The next term starts in January 2027; the exact date is not fixed yet.

Kids & Families
What a joy it was to create with The Makers Society! Our 9-year-old dreamed of building a market stand to sell donuts and lemonade in our community. He and Olympio spent several weeks sawing, hammering, drilling and sanding, and he's thrilled with the result. My 11 and 6-year-olds also made wooden toys with Eva and Joel. We highly recommend, and will be back very soon!
