Chopstick Making Class: Shape a Pair by Hand (2 Hours)

Dhs. 200.00
Dhs. 200.00
  • 2 hours
  • Tools & materials provided
Key Points

A pair of chopsticks looks like the simplest thing in the world until you try to make one. Two pieces, identical, square to round, tapered evenly along their whole length, and comfortable in the hand. Getting there teaches you more about hand tools than most beginner projects twice the size.

In two hours you will take a square hardwood blank and shape it, by hand, into a finished pair you take home.

What you will learn

  • Reading grain, and why it decides which way you cut
  • Setting up and using a hand plane with control
  • Working with a shop-made jig, and why jigs beat freehand for repeatable work
  • Taking a square section to an octagon, then to round
  • Sanding through the grits and applying a food-safe oil finish

What you will make

  • One matched pair of hardwood chopsticks, oiled and ready to use, yours to take home

What is included

  • Timber, jig, tools and finishing materials
  • Instruction in a group of up to 10 people
